In this fictional story, a single mother with a 13-year-old daughter moves to a small town to begin their lives over after being shattered by divorce.  Cara begins working for a man who owns his own business, making investments for them, preparing taxes and more.  Barely there two weeks and Cara’s life is about to take a twist that boggles the mind as the man she works for will intimidate her to do his bidding.  The man is J. L. Larrett.  The town believes is an upstanding citizen and wonderful family man.  J. L. knows everyone in town and therefore he begins to bully Cara into doing his underhanded actions or face the consequences.

What Cara never sees coming is the cunning and deceiving way her boss soon entraps not just her but also her 13-year-old daughter Riley.  So begins the rollercoaster ride for Cara, feeling more and more of her life coming under her the control of her boss without any hope for escape.  Cara thought this new job and town would be the place to start anew without her past of being abused repeating itself.

The author does an amazing job at keeping the story moving at a good clip without losing the reader.  I loved the way the tension slowly built in the tale and the ending was just outstanding and filled with hope!  Put this book on your to read list or grab a copy, a warm drink for a cold night, and plan to spend some time in a truly heart-pounding novel that will leave you breathless at the end!
