Note:  I received a complimentary copy for an honest review of this book from  The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.

If we are honest, we will all say we come to such a book as this with preconceived ideas. When I received a copy to review, I wanted to step back and look at the theological stance or belief system of the author as that influences what is written. The further along I read, the more uneasy I felt in my heart and stomach. Why? Well, first of all, when the author states she is a Christian Mystic who relies on The Holy Spirit and “ecstatic experiences of the Living Christ” (pg. 2), but doesn’t mention The Word of God being used as the foundation through which these experiences are discerned, I cringe.

Secondly, “The Mystical devotions with social actions” to me seems more about a social gospel than the written Word of God. The author also sites Wikipedia as a source of information, which in most educational or even non- educational circles is known not to be a reliable source at all and should never be used as a source because people can write anything they want, but that doesn’t make it truth.

On top of that, the author wants people to have an open mind to what she is presenting while at the same time she slams other peoples’ beliefs or other candidates. I am not sure the author was even aware of how many Democrats are disgusted with their own party and the way it is operating. None of the problems with the party system in general are even addressed. Plus, the author wrongly presents a conclusion of the separation of church and state, which in Thomas Jefferson’s own writing he explains what he meant, but many turn a blind eye to this.

In our society today, many call themselves Christians, but by their fruit one can discern that they are anything but a born again Christian. Unfortunately, many wear the label of Christian without knowing the history, meaning or fruit expected by one who follows Christ. Books such as this make statements that to me are inflammatory, biased and frankly have no Biblical basis. Jesus is the Son of God who when on earth was a Jewish man who came to save mankind from their sins. There is only one mediator between God and man and that is Jesus Christ. All people must be willing to see how the political parties in existence need reformation, but that starts in the heart of the people not in a system. Our hearts and minds need renewing by the Word of God and our nation needs revival. Our eyes must be on Him, our hearts must belong to Him and our will must be yielded to Him alone who is in total control of this world. When He returns, it won’t matter what your party affiliation is or isn’t, but whether or not you have called on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior.
